Slinker (Ian’s PC)

The Slinker says he is something called a ‘journalist’, sent out from an underground colony of Eugenic Humans (which recently joined the Affiliation) to compile a report on current conditions in the wastes. Some rotten sod mugged him for his gear (but left his force screen belt) and he can’t find his way back home, or even be sure about his own name (though ‘Thompson the Hunter’ rings a bell). He says everyone where he comes from has a quick mind and swift movement and suggests surface dwellers are unnaturally slow. He is worried about being able to change colour – he couldn’t do this before and thinks he must be mutating himself.

Slinker has somehow managed to be ‘assigned’ to the Expedition as party ‘reporter’, though there is some suspicion that he is acting as a spy for one faction or another…

Eugenic Abilities

Mutations

  • Chameleon Epidermis: Can alter colour and appearance to hide, almost as if invisible; chance to avoid detection ranges from 50% if unmoving in daylight to 95% in complete darkness or thick cover.
  • Quick Mind: Can learn how to use technology in 1/3 the normal time and receives a bonus of +30% to technology rolls. When confronted with a mental attack, an attacker must roll to attack three times, succeeding each time. Can automatically determine whether someone is telling the truth.
  • Quickness: Movement rate is doubled, mental tasks take half as long to accomplish, and the character may attack two times per round in physical combat (not mental combat).
  • Reduced Immune System: Suffer an additional 1d10 hp damage from disease each day. (Due to effects of accelerated metabolism.)

  4. Since he took the ‘Reduced Immune System’ deficiency without needing to, I’ve given Slinker an additional Karma Point.


  5. Note that Slinker has been ret-conned as a Eugenic Human. (This explains why he appears to be normal, as shown in his character image.)
