Phase Spider

Phase Spider

Your party is engaged in combat with a clutch of phase spiders. One of the original arachnid trio has been slain, but two spiders remain and Gene has been poisoned. The larger spider has phased-out and is not visible to the PCs. Olive, Gene, and the remaining small spider remain near the pool of water at the intersection. The other party members are thirty or more feet away, with ranged weapons readied. The retainers remain near the rear ranks, weapons now at hand.

Initiative order for the second regular round is Pris and the small spider (on 7); Aka-Vasha, Rasputin, and Apollo (5); Yobo (4); Slinker, Gene, and the large spider (3); and Olive (2).

25 – Phase-Out

Phase Spider

Phase Spider

The party has proceeded northward down the darkened hallway, reaching an intersection where leaking pipes have created a pool at the crossroads. Webbing hangs nearby – including the cocooned bodies of several humanoids.

Olive has advanced forward about thirty feet ahead of the rest of the party. Suddenly, three phase spiders appear from nowhere and attack the android! There is one large spider and two smaller ones; all have venom dripping from their mandibles!

The surprise round is over; I’m going to roll individual initiative for the PCs and each spider. Results are: Aka-Vasha and Slinker (on 7); Rasputin and Gene (on 6); Ibben, Apollo, and a small spider (on 5); Yobo, Olive, and the large spider (on 4); with the other small spider acting last (on 3).

BP Map #12

Map #12

Your group (now one larger with the addition of Pris the synthetic) have proceeded north to a new section of the installation. Crossing a broad lit corridor, you have remained in the dark passages and reached an interesting intersection.

Broken pipes protrude from the ceiling ahead of you, with water dripping to a pool on the ground. Fungus and mold has begun to grow in the moist intersection, and strands of webbing are strung near the ceiling.

Spidergoat Stew

25-Aug-08

Update: The website has been deleted for reasons unknown. I’ll let you know if I get any more info.

For those who may be interested, Decoucy has started a new Mutant Future gameblog called ‘Spidergoat Stew‘ in which I will be participating as a PC. At present, he is still looking for another player or two.

From the website:

The small community of Gyxrage had seen its share of troubles in the centuries since the end of the ‘Old World’. But now fresh attacks by Pigmen have made travel to the river south of town more and more difficult, interrupting trade downriver to New Portsmouth. And for a frontier burg like Gyxrage, trade is life.

The town’s worthies have tracked the source of the attacks to an old bunker used decades before by a mad scientist that once plagued the land – Dr. Sinferno. Old men and women still cower at his name and fear is growing amongst the populace that a hard existence will become only harder.

Now a group of brave souls must investigate, root out the threat to the town, and face the dangerous legacy of the evil Dr. Sinferno!

BP Map #11

Rasputin has convinced Pris the synthetic to join your growing menagerie as a retainer. She still seems suspicious of many of the party members and is reluctant to take up arms in defense of herself or the group, however.

Growing impatient with the scouts, Yobo was been sent south to find out if there’s a problem and summon them back. Ibben and Apollo were just finishing their search of the electrocephelagraph room anyways, and returned with Yobo to the others.

Gene, Aka-Vasha, and Olive remain with the retainers at the crossroads. Gene is convinced that he saw something move down the eastern corridor…

Your party is still split into three groups. Gene and the retainers remain at the crossroads as guards, keeping up their vigil.

Ibben and Apollo continue to uncover the secrets of the room behind the violet door. Apollo has spent 1 turn tinkering with the computer there, and has decided that it is the control system for the electrocephelagraphs.

Aka-Vasha, the Slinker, Yobo, Rasputin, and Olive are with the synthetic Pris. She has turned to Rasputin for leadership, but seems extremely suspicious of the other party members – especially those who are visibly non-human.

An Introduction to Mutant Future

07-Aug-08

Thought you might find this amusing. My mother-in-law and eight-year-old nephew were visiting for a few days this week, and the nephew found my miniatures collection downstairs. He was pretty interested in finding out what they were for, so I ended up running a game of (simplified) Mutant Future one night, followed by a Mutant Future/Labyrinth Lord crossover session the next evening.
