Botanical Gardens

Botanical Gardens

You have descended into lower levels using the drop chute, each PC hanging onto a downward-moving handle and linked to one another by a safety rope. Invisible Ibben is on the lowest rung, followed by the others in marching order. The retainers stayed put on the ‘top deck’ for now. Over a descent of approximately 170 feet, you passed by three levels. The first was blocked by a closed doorway, from the second you saw a huge open area, and the third is the botanical garden.

Further descent is blocked from below. Peering down, Ibben sees that the bottom of the shaft ends in a garbage heap (any access to levels further down appear to be buried under refuse).

Drop Chute

Drop Chute

Your party has spent several minutes trying to decide whether to fortify your current position – given the presence of creatures skulking in the southern corridors – or continue onwards to avoid giving any would-be predators a chance to strike.

In the end, you have made some half-hearted attempts to build barricades in the refuse-filled room to the north, but your attention has been drawn by the scouts exploring the drop chute in the eastern room…

BP Map #15

You are in a well-lit section of the vault at the north end of a long corridor. To the north is a large room filled with refuse. To the south is the elevator room, about 100 feet distant. Further south, you spotted movement of a large creature dashing across the corridor, but it was too far away to make out details.

Olive has rushed ahead to the edge of the elevator shaft room and activated his repulsion field. The rest of the party is still at the northern end of the lit corridor, just outside the doorway to the large refuse-filled room.

You have calmed down Reesus, your Apeman retainer. The discussion following his outburst included a number of interesting observations about the politics of the Affiliation and the motivations of your Expedition.

Moving onward, you have emerged in a well-lit section of the vault and now stand at the north end of a long corridor. To the north is a large room filled with refuse. To the south is the elevator room, about 100 feet distant. The corridor extends past that, but it is difficult to make out details at this range.

BP Map #14

The discovery of a Suidoid corpse from the Beastmen Clans within the vault has provoked a number of questions for Reesus, your Apeman retainer. Obviously, the Beastmen have known about this installation for quite some time and already sent their own representatives within – a fact that was concealed from your party.

When asked forcefully to explain the situation, Reesus flew into a rant and is dangerously close to turning on the party. Blaming the Conclave, Pure Humans, and Androids for treating his people without respect, he challenges the party with near-treasonous statements against the Affiliation.

Reesus the Apeman

Reesus the Apeman

After defeating the phase spiders, you have begun exploring the area hoping to score some swag in the webbing. Ibben finds some gemstone bearings in the pool at the intersection, while Aka-Vasha cuts open the cocoons to loot the bodies of the previous victims here.

The first corpse is the body of a vegepygmie – with a black keycard hanging from a thong around his neck. The second corpse is more interesting; it is the body of a Suidoid – a pig-like humanoid – a Beastmen from the Barrier Peaks, complete in the livery of his liege!

BP Map #13

You have just slain the last two phase spiders, and are seemingly safe for the moment. During the battle, Gene was bit twice and is badly poisoned (though not at risk of dying). None of the other party members were injured.

Olive and Gene stand in the intersection, surrounded by three spider bodies. The other party members are about 30 feet south down the hallway. You do not see any foes, and Ibben’s echolocation indicates no movement.
